Preparing for Bangladesh Visa On Arrival
Here are some useful information for Bangladesh Visa Honorable to assist passengers in planning their arrival at HSIA:
• Please check your ticket or with your airline to confirm your terminal for arrival. Please inform your guide accordingly.
• Contact your airlines in advance if you require special assistance.
• The prayer room and medical assistance is available on the first floor, south-east direction. They are properly marked via sign posts. If you face any issues, ask a volunteer (they wear bright parrot colored jackets), they will assist you in any way possible.
• Please contact your airlines for information about items you must declare when arriving in Dhaka.
• Do not take any food off the aircraft.
No porter services are available in Arrivals, unless especially provided/arranged for you by airline authorities.
If you are travelling with children:
• Parents’ Room facilities are located in the baggage collection areas and the Arrivals Hall.
• No strollers are available inside HSIA. Please carry your own stroller, if necessary. Most airlines do not charge extra for carrying strollers. Please contact your airline for further information regarding strollers and child-care facilities.
Immigration and Visa on Arrival
Once you arrived in Bangladesh, after examining your necessary travel documents the immigration authority at the Airports and Land ports will issue Visa on Arrival for a period of maximum 30 days to the citizens of the countries mentioned below under the following conditions:
(a) The nationals of those countries where there is no diplomatic mission of Bangladesh may be granted visa on arrival after examining the genuineness of their visit;
(b) On the basis of invitation letters of interested/required body being attested by the Board of Investment/BEPZA, the foreign investors/businessmen may be allowed to issue visa on arrival. In this case, interested/inviting organization must inform in advance the arrival of the foreign visitor(s) to the immigration and passport authority.
(c) Only for the purpose of official duty, business, investment and tourism citizens arriving from USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Russian Federation, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, UAE, Saudi Arabia (KSA), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and the countries of Europe may issue visa on arrival after examining and being satisfied by the immigration authority at the Airports and Land Ports;
(d) If any foreign national arrives in Bangladesh from a country other than his/her own country, where there is no mission of Bangladesh may be issued visa on arrival;
(e) Bangladeshi origin foreign citizens, their spouses and their offspring may be issued visa on arrival, on the proof of their being Bangladeshi origin;
(f) The staffs/officials of the foreign missions, UN or its affiliated organizations located in Bangladesh may be issued visa on arrival after examining their appointment letters or other related documents. Only UN passport holders will get such facilities gratis (free of charge).
Visa requirements:
In respect of visa on arrival the following procedures to be followed:
a) Visa fees($51) are to be paid in foreign currencies (US dollar, GB Pound/Euro etc.);
b) Visitor must possess minimum USD 500 or its equivalent amount of foreign currency in cash or credit card;
c) Visitors must have return ticket;
d) Must have necessary documents to justify his/her visit;
e) No visa fee will be applicable for the visitors from these countries which are exempted from visa fee.
f) On arrival visa fee will be applicable on the basis of reciprocity only.
g) The concerned intelligence agency must collect complete information of visitors to take necessary action. The immigration authority at Airports and Land Ports will send a monthly report on this issue to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Department of Immigration and Passports.
h) Visa on arrival shall be issued only after being satisfied about the purpose of visit. In case of foreign military or defense forces, prior approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs must be taken.
Baggage Reclaim on Bangladesh Visa On Arrival
After immigration check, please proceed to the Baggage Reclaim Hall to pick up your bags.
Your checked in baggage is tagged by our special automated system which tracks and scans each piece of baggage from check-in to loading. Baggage is passed through scanners and checked for illegal items before delivery. Please do not carry live animals/pets inside baggage.
Please ask a volunteer (parrot colored jacket) if you are having trouble in finding/locating your baggage.
Customs and Excise
You may proceed to customs and excise control after reclaiming your bags.
Taxes range between 0% (on necessities) and 300% (on cigarettes). Please carry receipts of your foreign purchase/import for easy clearance. You may check for import rates from the taxation authority beforehand.
Your luggage will be inspected on arrival, and you might be requested to open/declare contents inside, if asked. Firearms are prohibited on arrival and departure except by special permit from the official authorities. Alcohol might be detained unless they were imported with prior approval.

You may rent a taxi right outside the airport, but beware of cheats and exorbitant rates. It is best if you have your guide (most hotels provide guide assistance themselves as a complimentary service) in Bangladesh take care of this part of the journey. HSIA has a large parking lot, and if any car is supposed to wait for you, they can easily do so. Keep your drivers’/guides’ cellphone number so that you may contact him after you land. Please carry spare cash (there is a money exchange inside HSIA) in case you need it.
